FAQ - Fees

Medicare

Dr Woodgate is a medical specialist and so all of her appointments attract a medicare rebate, provided you have a valid referral from your GP or specialist.

How many appointments in a year are eligible for a Medicare rebate?

When you see Dr Woodgate for psychotherapy you may be seeing her regularly (eg weekly or fortnightly).  All of these appointments are eligible for a Medicare rebate.  When you reach approximately 50 appointments in a year Dr Woodgate is required to meet certain guidelines to be able to continue to process the Medicare rebate for your appointments.

If your child is the referred person, it is helpful to meet with Dr Woodgate for parent appointments - this is an essential part of the assessment process and is often important ongoing.  These parent appointments are eligible for a Medicare rebate under the child's referral.

If you are seeing Dr Woodgate regularly for parenting psychotherapy she may ask you to access your own separate referral for this purpose from your GP.

Medicare Safety Net

The Medicare Safety Net ensures that families reduce their out of pocket medical costs over the course of 12 months (calendar year).

If you are registered as a family, Medicare keeps track of your out of pocket expenses and once you reach the Safety Net threshold, your rebate increases.  You can access information about your Safety Net amounts via myGov.

How do I register for the Medicare Safety Net?

Click on the Services Australia link for more information about the Safety Net.

https://www.servicesaustralia.gov.au/what-are-medicare-safety-nets-thresholds?context=22001We

This will guide you to be able to register, and also for information about the thresholds.

Once you reach the threshold, Medicare will pay for 80% of the out of pocket gap.

Fees

Dr Woodgate runs a privately billing practice.  Her appointments are generally 50 minutes long.

She allows a longer time frame for the first appointment (up to 80-90 minutes), and this appointment attracts a higher Medicare rebate.

Occasionally she will see you for a shorter appointment if there is a reason to do so.

For more information regarding her fee schedule for her standard appointment item numbers, including the Medicare rebates with and without the Safety Net, please reach out via email enquiry or phone.
